Dinner by Heston is widely known to be one of London's most elusive fine-dining restaurants. The two-michelin star restaurant is located within the opulent Mandarin Oriental and like the Chiltern Firehouse, it has developed a reputation for receiving many famous guests. The restaurant is headed by celebrity chef, Heston Blumenthal, who has crafted a menu that revitalises traditional British cuisine from centuries past. The dishes were very enjoyable - unpretentious and well-conceived - but I wouldn't say they deserved the two-michelin star praise. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Meat Fruit, and the Tipsy Cake was one of the best desserts I've ever had, but I didn't think the dishes were pushing any boundaries. These dishes were essentially overpriced well-executed classics - satisfying, but nothing new. I must also point to my disappointment with the main course because of how overcooked the chicken was. This all being considered, I would still recommend a visit because of how much I loved the Tipsy Cake.
