Below are my favourite artworks (excluding photography) from the post-war & contemporary era, defined as works produced from 1945 and onwards: featuring Lee Ufan, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, Lucio Fontana and others. Ranging from formalist interrogations of the painting medium, through the imaginative use of gestural abstraction, to the deployment of conceptual strategies to examine temporality or the complexities of diasporic blackness, these diverse works appeal to me for a plethora of reasons, thus expressing the multiplicity that characterises postmodernity.
